Hi all, having got this book before Christmas, I can honestly vouch that it has taught me so much about Metasploit that I'm not sure my head can cope with anymore; I never knew it could do so much. Sure we use the basics, maybe even delve in some areas, but this book really has opened my eyes wider and helped fill a lot of the gaps in my knowledge. In my humble opinion, it is worth a punt.


Also, not sure if this is correct to do so, but Packt, the publishers of this book, are having some sort of crazy deal on at the moment where you can get PDFs of all of their books for $5 or £4.76 each! I've just bagged another three. Always keep learning!

The books published by PACKT are very hit-or-miss. For example, I bought a PACKT book on a popular Python framework and was very pleased with the quality and depth of the material. Later, I purchased Mastering Kali Linux for Advanced Penetration Testing (2nd Ed.) and found it to be an awful book. Bad editing, inaccurate information, lousy writing... Overall a waste of money. I've heard similar complaints from other owners of PACKT books.

If you're interested in a PACKT book, see if you can read a sample chapter or borrow a copy from a friend before you spend your hard-earned cash on it.

I totally agree. PACKT unfortunately has opened up to people who randomly collect stuff and piece together as book, publish.

The issue is that there seems to be another industry suffering from the impostor syndrome, but hey at least it makes money, right?
